Mission
Kids First Family Services promotes the development of strong, healthy families by addressing the physical, emotional, and behavioral needs of children and families impacted by trauma.
We Can Help
Kids First Family Services is a nonprofit organization providing counseling and supportive services for children impacted by trauma. Our staff has over 50 years combined experience helping children heal from traumatic experiences. We utilize a specialized counseling approach, called child parent psychotherapy, where both the child and parent participate in the treatment and recovery process. This approach has been shown to be more successful than traditional counseling approaches, such as play therapy and individual counseling, because it focuses on strengthening the relationship between the child and his/her primary caregiver. This trauma treatment model was developed and evaluated by clinicians at the University of California, San Francisco, and we are committed to ensuring local families benefit from this innovative and powerful treatment approach.
